At Gilda's Club South Florida, their goal is to increase the health and well-being of people affected by cancer by increasing social ties, sense of control, and increasing feelings of hope and meaning. They accomplish this goal through their free evidence-based program of support groups, education, mind/body workshops, social connections and resources and referrals. Their groups and events give their members the support they need to confront cancer. Their education programs aim to empower people impacted by cancer with the knowledge necessary to take an active role in their path to recovery. Their healthy lifestyle programs are designed to strengthen both body and mind over the course of the cancer journey.
Susan G. Komen is the ONLY organization that addresses breast cancer on multiple fronts such as research, community health, global outreach and public policy initiatives in order to make the biggest impact against this disease.
The Florida Breast Cancer Foundation (FBCF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending breast cancer through research, education, and advocacy. In 2002, they, along with the state of Florida introduced their specialty End Breast Cancer license plate which allows them to fund even more research and education through the sale of that license plate.
